ARTIFACTORY's "Emerging Artist Competition"

We are searching for rising stars in the contemporary art world. All you need is talent and vision. Winners will become featured artists on Artifactory, and will be given the opportunity to exhibit at Icosahedron Gallery in Chelsea.

PRIZES

ARTIFACTORY will select three (3) contest winners who will be given the opportunity to exhibit at Icosahedron Galley during their 2011-12 calendar.

First prize is $400 and a solo exhibition in the Street Front Gallery

Second prize is $100 and participation in a collective exhibition

Third prize is participation in a collective exhibition.

DEADLINE: December 31st, 2010.

ARTWORK ELIGIBILITY

-Original works in any medium
-Artist's name, contact information, title of the work, medium and date must be clearly labeled on the back.
-Work should be READY TO HANG WITH WIRE ON THE BACK.

-Work will NOT be exhibited without proper wiring.
-NO SPECIAL HANGING

- NO DRILLING INTO WALLS
-All work must be able to hang directly from a typical hanger, such as a nail. No works over 50 pounds
-3 dimensional works must be pre-approved by the curator
-Acceptance of works may be withdrawn with proper notice, at the discretion of Icosahedron Gallery
-No substitutions of accepted works
-Shipping and retrieval of artwork is the responsibility of the artist. Pick-up of artwork by an agency or by pre-paid COD or waybill to be included with artwork. It is the responsibility of artists shipping from abroad to research customs requirements. All works should arrive at Icosahedron Gallery at least five (5) days before the starting exhibition date.

INSURANCE AND LIABILITY

Artists are responsible for insuring their work in transit. Artifactory and Icosahedron Gallery will NOT be responsible for loss or damage to work during shipping. We take extensive measures to ensure the safety of your work and we work diligently to protect our mutual investment in your important artwork. Please make sure to inquire about insurance from your shipping company so that work is not damaged in the process of packaging or transit. All work is fully insured (at the wholesale price) will it is on display at the Icosahedron Gallery.

SALES AND COPYRIGHT

All pieces will be for sale and a 50% commission will be charged on works that are sold. Gallery commission is non-negotiable. Your entry grants permission for Artifactory and Icosahedron Gallery use of images in all promotional materials.

AGREEMENT

Artifactory and Icosahedron Gallery will choose winners based on our ability to successfully represent the artist at Icosahedron Gallery. Artists will be chosen by the quality of their artwork and by the suitability to our market and current patrons.

By entering the 2010 "Free Art Tomorrow" contest, you are stating that you HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE ABOVE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND THAT YOU AGREE TO ABIDE BY THEM. Artifactory and Icosahedron Gallery reserve the right to alter or revoke the contest term at any time, and will post any revisions to www.artifactorynyc.com.

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS (PLEASE read all instructions carefully)

To enter the contest, CREATE A USER ACCOUNT ON www.ArtifactoryNYC.com and UPGRADE TO A PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP

STEP 1: General Information
A. Enter your first and last name.
B. Enter your username. It should be your first and last name. I.E. "johndoe"
C. Enter a valid email address. You will have to verify your email account, so make sure it is an account you can access.
D. Enter your city, state and country.
E. Choose a password that you will remember (Please not "password" or "123456").
F. Renter the chosen password to confirm.

STEP 2: Complete Your Profile
A. You MUST selet the GENRE of your artwork. Please choose the most appropriate category.
B. Enter your address and zip code.
C. Enter your website, blog, birthplace, date of birth (you MUST be OVER 18 to enter), phone, cell, and fax if you'd like to.
D. You MUST include your artist bio and statement. The more you add to your account, the more you participate and the more we know about you, the greater the chance of you winning the contest. This shows us that you are serious about your career!
E. Upload a profile or representational image (must not be left blank)(no more than 2MB in size).
F. You MUST chose a SUGGESTED TAG. Your submission will NOT be accepted if you do not follow the instructions! You must ENTER A SUGGESTED TAG. We cannot stress this enough! We will be selecting the contest winners according to genre. YOU ARE REQUIRED to add at least one appropriate. You may join as many as you like that are appropriate for your work. For example, if you are a Surrealist painter, you should join the Surrealist group and if you are a realist, join Realist. Your submission to the Emerging Artist Contest will NOT be accepted if you are not in an appropriate group.

Step 3: Please Add Your Artwork
A. Add your featured image.
B. Include AT LEAST ONE TAG.
C. Add the TITLE of the work.
D. The description MUST include the Medium, Dimensions (IN INCHES), and Year of the work.

Step 4: Confirm Your Email Address
A. Log into the email address you used to enter, and click on the link in the "activation email."

B. If you do not get an activation email, please check your "spam" box in your email account.

Step 5: Add At Least FOUR more images.
A. When logged into your account, click "Add Art" at the top of the page and follow the instructions to add FOUR more images.

Step 6: Upgrade to premium membership

A. When logged into your account, click "Upgrade to premium," which will take you to our Google checkout page.

B. Once payment is received, you are officially entered into the contest.
