Statement :   Having pools of memory, animal forms and intense color, my paintings continue a concept found in Dream Reality or the older term Surrealism. There is a strong social and symbolic content. Images appear as a collective with interlocking-shape relationships. There is always some satire or cartooning about human conditions. The human hand ia an important connection in most of my work, suggesting the power of touch and language of gesture.
Information :   I recieved my BFA from the University of Washington, Seattle and MFA from Northwestern University and taught Basic Design after graduation, then moving to West Africa had a one woman show at the American Embassy in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Shortly after returning to Chicago, I moved to St.Louis and became a founding member of, and the Event and Exhibit Coorinator at the City Museum in St. Louis. In 2002 I published an Adult Fable book with 15 stories and 58 color illustrations entitled " Nature's Play". Previously I illustrated a children's book "Dancer the Little Dog from Mayaro Beach" published in Trinidad and Tobago where I lived off and on with my two sons for six years. I continued painting and having exhibtions in galleries aboard (T&T) and locally.
I moved from the Midwest to the Northwest Coast in the winter of 2004 and was breifly employed as an adjunct instructor at Cornish College. I am presently teaching a variety of courses at the Art Institute of Seattle. My artwork is in collections throughout the U.S. and Internationally. I have traveled to many cities in Western Europe and currently live in Seattle.
