These drawings are an escape from the computer age and an opportunity for design and discovery. They are landscapes, city scapes, urban, rural, city and country. They are fragments of memory and vehicles to create and inspire. I sign all my ink drawings with my middle name: "Anschel". Information :   Born in Toronto, trained as an architect in Los Angeles and practicing in California, Jason Shirriff began using computers in his professional practice in 1995. At that moment his hand drafting skills developed in architecture became obsolete almost overnight. He soon there after began having an urge to draw by hand. He wanted to draw in a formal way, not a sketchy one. After several years of development and experimentation, the discipline of developing a set of construction drawings became transformed into his art form called "Anschel Ink Drawings" and now is employed in drawing his evocative visions. Each drawing is developed on the fly and is a one off original. No previous sketching or planning is done for the particular ink drawing. The drawing is begun with an inspiration and is allowed to develop and evolve into something that cannot be expected. Only this way can discovery and learning take place in the results.
